                Toran Baptist Church

The congregation praising in song in the main worship service

The village of Turan is situated 15 kms. on the main road leading from Nazareth to Tiberias.
The village has a two third majority of Moslems, and the Christians of the village are mainly from a Catholic background and a couple of families from a Greek Orthodox background. Our congregation of Evangelical Baptist and a home ministry of the Brethren Church.

The Baptist work began in the village in the late fifties and sixties with a Sunday School ministry by people coming once a week from Nazareth.

The Ministry of Rev. Suhail Ramadan, along with his wife Fida and their family of two sons and a daughter, began in 1971 after they returned from their theological training at the Baptist Theological Seminary in Zurich, Switzerland. As of August 2004, Rev. Hani Shehadeh pastors the church, due to the physical inability of Rev. Ramadan because of Parkinson’s disease diagnosed over two years prior to that date. Rev. Shehadeh is from Kufur-Yaseef (a 45 minute drive west of Turan)

The Turan Evangelical Baptist Church today has an attendance of about 100 people in the weekly service.

It also has a daughter church in the nearby village of Eilaboun, 15 minutes drive northward, with Rev. Khalid Dalleh as its pastor.

We welcome you to attend our main worship service on Saturday evenings at 5:30 p.m.
   Prayer Requests:

Pray for Rev. Suhail and his health, and for his wife as she stands beside him to help him.

Pray for the leaders of the church and those involved in the ministry of the church.

The work is expanding and growing - pray for wisdom and funds as we plan to build a new sanctuary to hold about 350 people on the church property, and to make best use of the facilities to serve the church, the community and the surrounding area.

Thank you, and God bless.
