The Monthly Breakfast of Evangelical Ministers
The Monthly Breakfast of Evangelical Ministers

As usual, the meeting started with warm handshakes, hugs, and exchanging the customary Palestinian kisses. The ministers then had a typical Palestinian meal that was concluded by drinking Arabic coffee. However, this time they also had Kinafa, the traditional Palestinian sweet. After eating, Mamdouh Jadallah, an elder in the Brethern church, shared a devotion from the book of Nehemiah (2: 11 – 20) affirming the need to rise and build up the kingdom of God. He added that God gave us a vision and a plan and He is watching over us until we fulfill it. The devotion was received with joy and several ministers talked about their desire to follow the Lord and obey his plan. Munther Naum, the previous president of the Evangelical Convention, affirmed the importance of godly strategic planning for all the churches in Israel and our need for discovering God’s plan.

These meetings are a venue to asserting the importance of coordination and proper unity and several misunderstandings concerning ethical ministry issues are resolved. One minister rightly asserted the importance of coordination and proper unity. He asked: “how can we coordinate our ministries instead of competing?” Recently, a new ministry started in his town and he felt uncomfortable about it. Interestingly, the other minister responsible for the new ministry responded with love and humility affirming his full commitment to unity and cooperation. Both ministers are now willing to talk about their differences and resolve any misunderstanding in order to promote the Kingdom of God.

The meeting this month also included a discussion on the minister’s need for support and accountability. Several pastors expressed their desire to be in fellowship with other ministers who can listen, empathize, pray for and support them. Please remember these evangelical ministers in your prayers. Following are some photos from the meeting.
