hundreds of soldiars swear army allegiance on the New Testament
hundreds of soldiars swear army allegiance on the New Testament IDF Chief Rabbi Brig. Gen. Yisrael Weiss yesterday told the Knesset Absorption Committee "hundreds of new immigrants swear army allegiance on the New Testament" every year.

In 2001, the IDF issued 722 New Testaments to soldiers who asked for them, and this year 348 Bibles were issued. His testimony aimed to quash reports that the army chaplain discriminates against non-Jewish soldiers - he said 6,700 non-Jews serve in the army and 14 of them have been killed in the intifada.
