The conference this year was designated for Chemistry and the two 12 graders of NBS, Wisam Haddad and Hanna Khalil, were invited to participate as part of the “young researchers” group in this conference. On the other hand, Dr. Ousama Moalem, NBS principal and Physics teacher was invited personally by conference sponsor Countess Sonja Bernadotte to be a distinguished guest in the conference.
NBS is the only school in the world to that was invited to participate in this event that 22 Nobel laureates in Chemistry shared in as well as more than 600 “young researchers” who hold masters and doctorates from 67 countries including 3 scientists that won the Nobel prize in Chemistry in 2008.

The reason for the invitation that NBS got for this conference was the large number of prizes that it’s students got during the years in the international contest for Physics research called “First step to Nobel prize in Physics” as the number of prizes that the school got was 9 and which most were under the instruction of Dr. Ousama Moalem.
The purpose of the conference was exposing the “young researchers” to the failures and successes that the Nobel laureates dealt with, bringing them closer to one another and also presenting the huge research possibilities in Europe in general and
The conference included also lectures given by the Nobel laureates as well as few young researchers on the issue of the raise in the temperature of the earth and the water problem and the proposals in that regard, including the illnesses that result from it and the possible treatments to deal with it.
Hanna Khalil and Wisam Haddad met few Nobel laureates and heard the lectures that were given and the discussion seminars between the senior scientists and the young researchers and also in the social programs that were held during the conference to strengthen the relationships in the conference including sailing to the countess’ palace were the farewell party was held.
