A recent report from the UN Security Council said that war crimes had been committed by both sides and called on Israel and Palestine to launch investigations into their actions.US Middle East envoy George Mitchell this week extended his peace mission in the region as he continues to press Israel for a halt in the construction of settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Although Mr Filmon welcomed Mr Mitchell’s efforts, he said there was “not a very strong chance of peace”.
“The mood in the West Bank is uncertain,” he said. “We are somewhere between war and peace. People feel betrayed. They had lots of dreams that haven’t come true. So they mistrust the leadership.”
Mr Filmon went on to warn of a “gap” between ongoing political negotiations and “what’s happening on the ground”.
Christians, he said, could help foster peace by acting as a bridge between Palestinians and Israelis.
“On the ground it is a very hard, devastating situation. People are hungry and thirsty, not just for food, but for peace, reconciliation and normal life,” he said.
“As Christians, we have a role to be peacemakers. Palestinian Christians are between a rock and a hard place. They can easily be crushed by both sides. But we have the opportunity to build bridges to bring both sides together.
“It’s our task to be true peacemakers between people and between people and God.”

Israel is the attacker,the occupier and opressor.The Palestinians are the underdog and the opressed.
This was a wrong statement.
there is no question about who is the oppressed and who is the oppressor, we all know that. The challenge here is taking responsibility of the provocative actions knowing that it will harm us and the whole nation.
I believe that war is a crime and participation in it or making it happen brings great responsibility on both sides . in Calculating the cost; I believe in what Jesus taught in Luke 22-38 "Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Will he not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace.
The authority that is ruling Gaza now have a great responsibility in bringing the war and making it happen, it also has a responsibility of the death of Rami it has a responsibility of the attacks that the Christian minority and other Muslims are suffering from such as the YMCA attacks, the BS attacks, net cafes, schools, churches, barber shops and others.
We have to take responsibility for our actions and not always play the role victim that doesn't wish to take any responsibility.
